The Plunger, Cafetière
or French Press
The cafetière usually consists of a glass jug (pitcher)
which has a plunger. The plunger goes through the lid and has
a metal filter at the end - this tightly fits the jug. The plunger
is first removed and the coffee - a medium grind is usually recommended
- placed at the bottom of the jug, boiling water is then added
and the coffee is left to brew for a few minutes. The plunger
is then firmly pushed down; this action effectively separates
the coffee grounds from the brew, leaving you with a great tasting
cup of coffee.
